O'Malley: The Shared Studio - In association with Kilkenny Arts Festival. The Butler Gallery presents a building-wide exhibition honouring the work of the late Tony O'Malley (1913-2003) and Jane O'Malley (1944-2023). This exhibition marks the receipt of the bequest of both artists’ estates by Jane O'Malley to the Butler Gallery where the artists had a long association. The exhibition provides an insight into the lives of Tony and Jane, and the studio life they shared in different locations for many decades: St Ives in Cornwall where they first met, to travels to the Bahamas and Lanzarote, and primarily their beloved home studio in Co. Kilkenny, which functioned as a space of mutual encouragement, emotional support, and creative exchange. The exhibition highlights work of different mediums and thematic approaches made over the decades

 

From Nov 28 Julián: The Exhibition - Cartoon Saloon. Developed in collaboration with Kilkenny’s internationally acclaimed animation studio Cartoon Saloon. The exhibition explores the creative process behind the making of the new animated feature, bringing us behind the scenes of animated filmmaking through original artwork, drawings, character development, and production materials. Building on Butler Gallery’s successful history presenting Cartoon Saloon exhibitions, the show celebrates the extraordinary talent within Kilkenny while attracting local, national, and international audiences. Alongside the exhibition, Butler Gallery will deliver an engaging programme of talks, workshops and family activities, ensuring opportunities for audiences of all ages to
discover the art of animation​
